I’ve changed my project from college firsts and all the new experiences that you get at school to how to handle your battle with the freshman fifteen. It’s something that has an affect on every single freshman that first goes to school. It has to do with everything that goes on in your life. Your weight can be affected by your workload the amount you sleep and when you eat. If your eating schedule is messed up it can put unwanted weight on. You may not be used to eating at nine or ten o’clock maybe even later sometimes and your body isn’t used to it. So my project is taking a sports center approach form the IMoive app that allows you to use different themes. So the intro has a sporty feel to make the movie have a full feel affect on the viewers. Plus many of us have heard some of the information before so it is going to help with the boredom. I also want to put videos of people lifting on there to show some demonstrations on working out to encourage people to go to the gym and not be afraid of doing things wrong. A lot of people admit of not going to the gym because they have no clue what to do and are afraid of asking a stupid question so I want to be a calming affect for them. I am also going to put on the local gyms in the area to help you with the search if you are serious about looking for a gym. Tell them about the two gyms that are on campus, ones free and one has a semester price that your able to pay with hoot loot in the student center. My project is going well I just need to get more information of the surrounding gyms and have to work with the new sport app in the IMovie because applying things on there so that they flow well is not easy.

Are you proud of your first semster?
So I had some troubles with this part of the project just like most of the people because we have to do it on a tight subject that were all familiar with but we don’t want it to be long and dry and have to watch the same repetitive thing over and over again for eight minutes. So I started to brainstorm over the major problems that first semester freshman have. There are many that we share and probably one of the biggest is being with all your decisions on you and what your priorities are for your self. For the majority of our lives we have had our parents there on our butts about every thing that we do and ever decision that we make, so going to college it’s a major change not having that constant authority over us. We have a lot more freedom and that’s definitely not a good thing at some points. You won’t have some one there telling you, you shouldn’t had gone out last night when you sleep through your first class and have a hang over for the rest of the day. It’s all on you now and those decisions are going to affect everything that is going on down the road for you. So my focus of my project will be how have you’ve grown over the past semester what were you doing in the beginning that you shake your head at now. What would you go back and change if you could start the semester over again? Would your parents be proud of the decisions that you’ve made over your first semester or would they frown upon your decisions? There are a lot of pressures that we have to deal with and things could have gone better or it could have gone worse.

College isn't as easy as we thought
This is a common thing between all college students, trying to balance there social life with there work. In college that’s the real struggle because we don’t have our parents there telling us when to do something that needs to be done. Were all on our own and some of us can manage how we use our time and some of us fail miserably because we cant balance the two out in a productive way. Our workload was increased tremendously and then our free time is also at a new high. Having class one time a day three days a week is a great thing but it also could be come a down fall because we use the time to our disadvantage. But were in luck because were not at a party school. My first choice in schools was University of Arizona but my parents would not let me go because of its reputation. It’s a great academic school but it has forty thousand kids and is constantly ranked in the top ten of best party schools. When we visited it wasn’t hard to tell this was apparent. So it also comes down to the school you go to because if you’re at a renowned party school your going to run into issues with balancing you time productively. There’s always something to do and something always going on at the campus. Meeting people at school was easy all we did was have our door open and kids would walk in and out. We were also always outside throwing a football or a baseball so kids would come join us outside. It all depends the type of person you are if you have a good out going personality you’ll have no problem meeting people but if you quiet or shy you should try and apply your self more or hang out with that loud person to help you out.

my brain hurts
I was reading on the left and right side brain parts and noticed that I’m a predominately a right side of the brain person. I’m good at sports, I like to work in groups, and I’m good at art and more of a visual type of person. So this was actually interesting for me because I always here people talking about this left brain and right brain stuff and never looked into it. Now I know more about what makes people either left sided or right sided and to see that the information is generally spot on. But I also feel that I share some of the left side brain techniques like having every thing planned out for a project, but I rather work in a group but have a strong position in the group.
This is actually a very big subject the summer before leaving for college, will they stay together or break up. I know a lot of kids that are doing the long distance thing and its working for them so I guess it depends on how long they have been together because all of them were dating for a long period of time. I was with some one during the summer, but did not bring it to school because I didn’t feel like it was going to last. You never know what is going to happen at school or who your going to meet that may change your mind on things. So I think I didn’t want to do it because of what I could get into at school. You honestly meet so many people at school its ridiculous and you create new friend ships that may go somewhere one day, so I believe it comes down to the relation ship and how the people in it are feeling about the long distance thing.

Freshman 15!
So before we all left for school we all heard about the freshmen 15. Some thing that was drilled in our heads, that you are going to get fat your first semesters in college. Is it because of all the freedoms we have at school? Being able to stay up as late as you want, and being able to eat dinner at any time of the night, even if its midnight? Even though we know it’s bad to eat so late in night but we may have class till late. Maybe we are jammed pack with work so we can’t eat at a reasonable hour. But there are so many more things that factor into this too. The stress that college brings to first year students is a lot more then most of us expected, which many of us have never experienced before. All of this leads to different things that don’t help our cause. The article says that cutting out little things could make a noticeable change. It said that the average change was about 174 calories. So cutting out a soda in the course of the day or cutting out a snack could make a significant change in your diet and may help you not gain the freshman 15. But we should all look past the freshman 15 and look down the road at real things to worry about. Sudden weight gain could cause our body more harm then we want to believe. Sudden weight gain could lead to diabetes, heart disease, and obesity and develop certain types of cancer. So this all could be dodged if you watch what you eat or cut out one thing a day could have a huge impact. If you’re a person with a lot of free time the gyms are open all day till 10 pm and the field house is free form 6:30 pm- 9:15 pm every night except on the weekends.
Growing up to fast?
These articles on kids getting into things at a younger and younger age every year is astonishing. But I could tell this was going on, it’s very noticeable. Face book is the easiest way of telling that kids of a younger age are getting into older things. I know my cousins who aren’t in high school yet have them. But you can’t blame parenting styles on this. It may be frowned upon because of all the dangers that could come out of having a face book at such a young age. It’s that kids are growing up faster, even if you raise your child the way you want, you’re not the only one that is having an affect on your kids personality. Parents obviously have a strong influence, but the media and all the new social cliques have a strong affect. The article talked about being an authoritarian parent, authoritative parent, a permissive parent and an uninvolved parent. These will obviously all have different the Authoritarian parenting styles may lead to children who are obedient but they rank lower in happiness, social competence and self-esteem. An Authoritive parenting tends to result in children who are happy, capable and successful. Permissive parenting ranked low in happiness and self-regulation. Uninvolved parenting ranked the lowest out of all of these. So even though kids may hate that there parents are too strict on some things it may help them in the long run. They will have a proper personality that people will like and respect. While the uninvolved parenting technique lead to unhappiness, even though they may have had little or no rules as a child and had a lot of freedom. So while a lot of kids would want a lot more freedom it’s our parents that stayed on us when we didn’t want to do some thing that in the end helped us.

Not a sport, its a passion
Some thing that’s always interested me football. I was supposed to play here but after camp I did not enjoy the environment. But deep down I still want to play. Its one of the main reasons that made my high school were so great and probably kept me out of trouble. Also probably why I got out of trouble sometimes. But since we had such a small town, our town would be at the football games every Friday and kept up with every thing that happened with football. It provided me with things that will stay with me for the rest of life. The leadership that football provided me is some thing I can never forget. Being a captain provide roles that I never expected and gave me responsibilities that would help me later in life. It also provided me with relationships with people that I’ll never forget. All our seniors have been together since Pop Warner football, so we’ve been close for almost 13 years on and off the field. So the group of kids that we played with were like family. But that didn’t mean we always got along but the up and downs were what made us closer. Just like our coach always told us, “ Football is like life, you’ll have your up and downs, but it’s what you do with your up and downs that will make you.” It is inspiration like that drove us to strive for greatness. This is probably why when we had our senior dinner with our coaches we heard all their stories about their high school football memories, and how passionate they were about the sport. The thing that was so shocking is that they still kept in touch with all of there fellow seniors still. During my senior year my coach had to go to a funeral of one of the kids he played ball with. So football is something I’m very interested and will always be a passion.
