Nap time

Keeping track of my time was shocking for me. I found that I finished my work in a timely matter and had a good amount of free time left over. My total amount of time for studying was 18 hours. Which may have been low because I had a slow week for work when I took down the hours. Which is one thing that you have to take into consideration, the way your work load can change. One of my biggest distractions is when people just come in and out of the room because I usually have the door open. So having my roommates and his friends and having my best friend from home living across the hall doesn’t help. I spend most on my time focusing on my exercise science, either spending time in the athletic training center, or in the gym working out and doing things to expand the knowledge in my field. I should try and take advantage of the time when no ones in the room and get my studying out of the way. I could also go into the common room, if no one is in there and try and finish what I need to get done. I need to take more time out my schedule and take time to study and keep going over everything in class. I never really did that in high school I would just do my homework and maybe study a little if I had a text or quiz. So that’s one of the bad habits I have to change from high school cause that wont work in college and I will not get the grades that I want. So I need to try and make more improvement on the amount of time I study, so I can be were I want with my grades.

Friday Night Lights

Last night I went to the Southern Connecticut football game against Pace. It was the first home game and the owls took the game with ease, the final score was 61-0. The stands took a little while to fill up, but I was there early, but when all the students were there it was a great environment to be in. The stands were a good sixe so there really are no bad seats in the facility. So my first experience was an enjoyable one at the football game. It was exciting because southern scored about every 3 minutes in the game so you were just waiting for something to during the game at all times. Wouldn't allow to upload the photo.

excellence is achieved in the title?

How do you achieve excellence? So I was looking over the blogs and there were a couple that stuck out for me. Bobby’s blog stuck out for me because of all the sports photos. The facts are shocking in the professional one. All the photos captured your attention. The other blog that that stuck out for me was the new and the beginning of pebbles. The first thing you noticed was the background and the detail to the whole blog. All the names of the titles of the blogs were very creative. They didn’t give away the blog post but gave little insight, but they made you want to read them. The last blog that I thought deserved the excellence is the blog called The triumphs and troubles of tina. This one stuck out from the beginning because of the name. The title brought interest towards me. Then the titles to the blogs there were multiple ones that had quotes as their titles. Which I thought was very creative and added a unique touch that I didn’t see in other blogs. The blog that stuck out to me was the one that she was talking about other blogs. I thought all the artwork on the page was something that really attracted me. She also added links to every that she talked about which was very convenient incase you wanted to look deeper into the things she was talking about. So overall I pictured all these blogs as excellent because they had unique characteristics to help them stand out from the others in the classes. The titles of these captured the attention of me so, for me it was more about the title then the actual blog to get my attention and want me to read further into the blogs and see what they have to say.

blogging about other blogs

One of the blogs that interested me was on blogs.bodybuilding.com, this is because I’ve read it a numerous amount of times to research on products before I take them. So I can get personal experience from another person instead of just the company talking about there own product. It is a lot different then the blogster in the way it’s set up. There isn’t just one blog on the page. There are a number of posts on the page. Only the introduction, then you can click on the link to read further. Then towards the bottom of the main blog page there is a box that has the most popular blogs. This is calculated by the amount of views on each blog. So that was the only real difference between the bodybuilding one and blogster. An the fact that you can not personalize your blog besides the main photo that pops up.
The other blog that I looked at is the http://www.bleedinggreennation.com, with the Philadelphia Eagles blog. This is different from the body building blog and blogster because it has multiple videos and news links. It has schedule, tickets, roster, and a link to the team store to purchase anything with the eagles. It has others fans post and the links to those. It has a section or fan photos to upload photos from the game and anything and everything eagles. It also has ads from all the sponsors that support the eagles. This is the most different from the other two blogs it is jammed pack with everything. It’s almost kind of clustered. It has the rosters down the sides, then the recent news. Then fan posts of all the recent blogs, and allow other bloggers comment on the top blogs. There are multiple links to all thing eagles, and have search engines.

Why not become a CC?

Today I went to the front desk of Chase Hall and talked to my CC Joe. He told me all the positive aspects of being the community coordinator on campus. He said it’s a good leadership experience, and is also good to put on a resume for a future job. He said one of the biggest perks of being a CC is you get free housing, your own room and your own bathroom. It also gives you the opportunity to get very involved on campus in various events. You’re also there to meet and help all the new first year students at southern if your in a freshmen dorm. So why wouldn’t everybody want to be a CC?

Multitasking over brain power

The new age of technology is always expanding. People see this as a good thing, always being in touch with friends and family and things that are happening in the world. But is this affecting our brains? Not allowing enough time for the brain to rest, or give it time to remember what was done. Every day repetition is not good for the brain either. It doesn’t allow for new patterns to develop. Could this affect us from being able to critically think? Even the slightest bit of multitasking can cause the brain to drain. Technology is everything now at my gym all the elliptical and cardio machines have TV’s on them to watch while exercising. Multitasking is proven not to work, your brain cannot take the toll of doing multiple tasks at the same time. It’s acceptable to multitask in our society, but no one understands that it won’t help your cause. Why are we not able to achieve to complete multiple tasks at the same time? What causes our brain the ability to not achieve multitasking? There are a lot of distractions that are involved in the college life, but the ability to multitask is talent developed by the will to succeed. People try to multitask by doing multiple things simultaneously, but without a certain focus none of this will be achieved. There are a lot of people that don’t have the ability to multitask, and that’s due to the fact that they lack focus. Multitasking can also be affected by distractions around those who wish to complete their desired tasks, such as T.V, computers, and any type of media source. I’ve been able to multitask, because I’ve been dedicated to my schoolwork and have blocked out any other distraction around me. Multitasking isn’t something you cannot develop because it overloads your brain.

how will you use your time now?

I was reading the blog “Work Hard or Get Smart” and it made me think about one of the things stated in the reading. It said we are all smarter then we think we are, and we are all stronger then we think we are, and more creative. But the thing that I want to know is how do you bring yourself to achieve this. How do you reach that point? How do you know when you’ve worked hard enough? I guess there can’t be any real answer to this because there is someone always out there that will do more and know more. So you must have the drive in you to keep pushing, keep doing the hard work and maybe that one time you’ll get the feeling of achievement.
The second blog I read was about, how to become a deep thinker. It brought up a point that I never thought about. The students who do great, and have great sophisticated thoughts are the ones who have to the time to think about it. So if you have enough time will that make you a better thinker then those with a lack of time? It said calculate the hours of time you’ll need to finish the work and then double if for the proper amount of time to achieve the best amount of time for thinking. Is this the reason that most of our college professors tell us to study the double amount of time were in class?

College

College to me is almost a surreal experience. I wake up and go through the motions every morning and still doesn't feel like I'm at school. I think its like this because its not like high school. It's not the same routine, same classes same people. Your out on your own now living by your self. You don't have your parents to tell you wake up cause you have to be at school in 10 minutes. When we came to orientation it sorta hit me that i finally getting out of High school, meeting all the new people and staying in the dorm. Then seeing my schedule and not having to wake up for a 7:15 am class and having a class at 7:30 at night. My goals are the higher then they were in high school, I want to keep above a 3.2 gpa and stay active with the school . Play club sports to stay active and use it as a way to meet new people. My only worries is not to do to much and keep time to stay focused on the important things.

5 Words That Describe Me

Family: Family is one of the most important things to me. It holds a special value over anything, family always come first. I come from a big family half Italian and half greek, so were loud an obnoxious. Unfortunately I do not get to see most of my family from the Greek side because they all still live there but we keep in touch when we can. I feel also, most of my friends I consider family because they behold a special place. That ill go out of my way to do something for and basically do anything for. So unlike most I don't distinguish between the two. Theres a special bond we've created so I treat it uniquely.

Responsible: Whatever I do, I do it so that its right and gets done the right way. I like to be on time all the time, and try to arrive early if I can. Thats because the one thing I hate is waiting on people, if I say ill be there at a specific time ill be there and if I do have a problem I would let the person know. Also if your responsible it keeps you out of trouble. An from being from a small town word travels fast so I try my best not to be put into bad positions. Also if you show I feel if  your responsible you will earn respect and be trusted and be able to do more of the things you want to do and won't be held back by the little things because people don't think you responsible.

Leadership: I have learned how to be a good leader from football. It had taught me so many things on how to motivate and lead a good of young men. Leadership is a good role to know in life, cause when life goes down hill for you and the people around for that moment you'll be able to stand up and help pull things together. Also be able to stay calm and not lose you mind in the situation, will help you with all life situations and help the people around you when they need someone to guide them. Its an essential thing in life that if you have it, it will benefit you and the people around you throughout your life.

Outgoing: I don't have a problem talking to anyone about anything. I'll talk to anyone, I have a good personality and have no problem keeping a conversation going. I think I'm very easy to talk to if people approach me and get over the fact of my size, that could drive people away. I'm not shy at all, I would approach anyone and always okay with doing public speaking and activities in front of a lot of people. It also helps when you need to do something or get something done, because if your outgoing you know more people that can help you with things.

Funny: I like to think that I'm funny. I have a good personality that lets me keep me and the people around me. By saying something funny or doing that I get a kick out of. I hate when something is too uptight, I always try to ease the tension. I feel life's better when your having fun and laughing. Theres somethings that ill take seriously but I will always try to bring a softer side to everything cause you can't enjoy something if your not having fun. So wherever I go and whatever I do I'll always try and have a good time and bring some comedic relief to the table.
